Shopping at thrift stores has been one of my favorite hobbies for a long time. I am always so excited for everything that I find because I know I got it for a good deal.
Through out college and high school I would only buy clothes when I was shopping. I really didn’t have an interest for home goods because I didn’t really have anywhere to put them. I also thought buying home goods was to much of an adult thing to do.
Unfortunately, I am a real adult now with the bills, the responsibility and even my own home. I have started to buy home good stuff. I still prize over the clothes I find, but I am also having fun finding odd things and turning it in to something cool to display in my house.
I found a lot of stuff on my latest shopping trip, both home goods and clothing. I went with my mom, who had a lot of fun because she found a lot of clothes for herself.
I am also going to show a couple things I got a few days before when my husband and I went to TJ Max. When my mom came to visit she also brought me a gift from my sister, a few shirts she was getting rid of. She had known I would like them from when I had complimented her in the past when she was wearing them. She than decided to give them to me instead of donating them (she is so sweet).
Where I Shopped:
I shopped in Fredericksburg, VA. They have 6 different Goodwills around the area. There were two by the mall that we found majority of our stuff from.
We did go to 5 of the Goodwills. We didn’t go to the Rappahannock Goodwill Industries, mostly because we tried to go to another Goodwill that said industries and it was just a donation site.
We bought something from every store. One Goodwill my mom would find stuff and I wouldn’t, other times it would be the opposite.
The Clothes I Bought:
My first find was a Calvin Klein, gorgeous blue dress. Okay I didn’t actually find it, my mom did. But since we aren’t the same size and I bought the dress. I’m claiming the find, hehe.
Virginia Goodwills have set prices for all clothes depending on the type of clothing. Dresses happen to be about $8. Now I wouldn’t buy a used dress from Walmart for that price, but a Calvin Klein, that’s a good deal.
I almost bought a PINK Victoria Secret sweatshirt and a couple shirts. But I am trying to get rid of some stuff and I didn’t absolutely love them so I passed.
The first Goodwill I always consider buying everything I see main brand just because I’m excited to be shopping. The rest of the day I only tried on what I really wanted. I didn’t buy everything because I’m not afraid to admit that not everything looks good on me or fits me.
I ended up finding a few things I really love, though. I found this cute black and white romper that was fastened by safety pins. It must have been too big for the previous owner or she was really modest. It was a Papaya and it was a pink tag which was half off that day so I got it for $4.
I also found these comfy cute shorts. I wouldn’t normally buy these but ever since I got a puppy I have to walk her several times a day. These shorts will be a great option for everyday use so I can look cute and be comfy! I paid about $4 for them.
My mom always finds me great clothes. She found this Nike tank top in the kids section. Since I am small a kids extra large fits me, score! It was about $4.
My favorite find of the day was this absolutely stunning red lace Francesca’s dress. I paid $8 and told my husband we were going to go for a nice date soon, so I could show this dress off.
A few days earlier I found a couple shirts at TJ Max. I love this store because they carry cute and reasonably priced clothes. I always stick to the clearance section even though there normal prices aren’t bad.
I saw a lot of shirts for only $2 which is cheaper then Goodwill. I bought the one sleeve grey shirt for $2 and bought the purple tank top for $6 because I loved it so much.
My sister gave me three shirts that I love. If you can’t tell I am a fan of floral. I love the different style and colors each shirt offers!
The Home Goods I Bought:
I have been loving shopping at Goodwill for things other than clothes. It has been so much fun (now that I have money and a house) to look for things to put in my home or to buy fun things to spend my free time on.
The pillow will be a great accent pillow around my house. I love the boho or farm house look it can offer. When I brought it home, I threw it in the dryer, lint rolled, and sprayed some febreze on it. Now it is good as new and only $2.
I loved finding the aloe plant picture. The price tag was kind of folded over. I thought it might read $9.99, but when I got to the register and I asked the worker she said .99 cents!
The Gather wood board is a recipe book holder. It is so cute and I have loved having it in my kitchen. Love how amazing it look. I can’t get over it. $1.99
Not only did I get this cook book stand but I got a lovely new running mug for my kitchen. I don’t drink coffee or tea but I loved it so much I got it any way. I can eat soup in it right? Only .59 cents. I couldn’t pass it up!
The chicken wire frames are an investment I have been looking for ideas on how to display my jewelry. Right now all my jewelry is in a cloth jewelry bag and everything is a mess and hard to see.
I want to be able to store and see them better. These frames will hold my dangling earrings. I will stain the frame with a dark java bean color. When the project is finished I will make a post to show you all and link it here.
I found a couple seasons of TV shows. I bought the season 1 volume 2 of Glee and Season 1 of the Gilmore Girls. I bought them for $1.99 each.
I also bought a number of books. I love to read and have made a goal to read at least one book a month. I always love finding good books to read. I always try to buy paperback books because they are only .99 cents. Hard cover books are $1.99. I did buy Catching Fire hard cover because it was in good condition and I like to read this series several times.
Okay. I know everyone was wondering what this was suppose to be. Honestly, I didn’t know either. My mom did not seem so sure to why I would buy it.
I on the other hand really like it. I thought it was cool and unique. I used it as a planter. I went to Walmart and found succulents for $4. I bought the pot for $1.99.
