Father’s day is just around the corner and if you are like me and live far away or are continuing to self quarantine, we have to do a little more preparation in order to mail our gifts or cards to get there in time. Last year I was very thoughtful. I was visiting for my sister’s graduation at the beginning of May, I stopped on my way out of town at my dad’s favorite local fishing and hunting store and got him a $15 gift card.
Now that might not seem like I did a lot, but he noticed the fact that I would have had to think of him long before two days before father’s day to buy him this gift card. Both my parents were touched by the thought and appreciated the effort. This year, however, I did not get to go home. In fact I havn’t been home for over a year. It’s a sad and I miss them all very much.
Sometimes when you live so far from your family it is these holidays that make you know that each other are thinking about the other. A gift small or large knows they appreciate you. It is a nice a great holiday and I feel very blessed to have a father and that he is alive today for me to celebrate him.

I have always struggled to shop for father’s day but I also pride myself as a good gift giver. My first step is always to just browse. I look around at a bunch of different things on Pinterest and Instagram. I also look at stores to see there gift guides. Once something pops out that screams them I buy it. Or I try to think of a need that may need filled.
Last year my I got my father in a law a traveling bar bag. They have three different houses that they regularly visit. They also like to drink. They often bring there own booze from house to house, so I got a bag that he could fit his liquor bottles in that also came with a traveling bar kit. This way they didn’t have to have a bar set and liquor at each house.
My Prayer
Dear God, I hope all my reader’s have a good father’s day! I pray for all families that they can be connected in one way or another in a time where distance has become apart of our every day life. Please fill our father’s bellies with good food and a nice beverage. I pray for good weather and full hearts! May our God’s heavenly father’s example be shown through our father’s here on earth.
