Being from Minnesota then moving to Florida, I knew I would stand out with my snow stained skin. I had tanned in high school and used Jergens tanning lotion for my wedding but I was looking for something new. Something that would have an obvious affect over night and not take several days to show.

I wanted a product that wouldn’t stain my hands, my clothes, or my sheets. I wanted something easy! That’s when I tried Isle of Paradise tanning drops!

I stumbled upon these tanning drops when I started following several different Instagram influencers back when I began my blog. I saw that several had bright glowing tans and I wanted one. I found that many of them used these tanning drops.

I ordered the kit with the drops, the mist, and the tanning mitt. I didn’t know what would be better the drops or the mist. I found out I liked using both.

Isle of Paradise comes in three different kind of tanning applications – drops, a mist, and mousse. (I have only tried the drops and the mist) It is a vegan friendly, cruelty free, & organic self tanner.

It comes in three different shades – light, medium, and dark. You can adjust the shade individually by adjusting how many drops you use. It suggests 1-12 drops mixed with moisturizer.

My Routine:

I always apply my tanning lotion at night so I can sleep through the night and not mess up my hands. I always start by taking a shower. I shave and exfoliate using exfoliating body wash and sugar cubes.

Afterwards I dry off completely and put my hair up. I like to apply in front of my mirror so I can watch myself apply and see if I’ve missed any spots.

I start with the drops and mix with lotion (use lotion and a moisturizer without sunscreen or aloe Vera. I use Human+Kind. I use the fair color drops. (I’m going to move up to the medium drops and just use less, I would suggest the same if you are trying to decide)

I put a squirt of lotion on my hand that would cover my shin and calf and put 5 drops in that and mix it up in my hands. I apply it to my leg all over in circular motions until it is all rubbed in nice. I repeat this step over and over again sectioning off my body – lower leg, upper leg, butt, lower back, belly, chest, arms, shoulders/upper back, middle back, and face/neck.

I don’t do anything different with my face but use a face moisturizer instead of lotion. Other than that I wash my hands thoroughly scrubbing my palms and in between my fingers. I dry them good. I then use the mist to apply the self tanner on my hands.

I spay the mist once or twice on the tanning mitt. The mitt is than used to rub the tanner into the back of my hands and wrists. Do not let any water touch you for the time you have the self tanner on.

The tanner does not stain clothes or sheets, so I just put my pajamas on and crawl into bed. In the morning I wake up and shower. You should see a noticeable difference to your skin when you wake up.

I reapply the tanner every two to three days for a constant tan.
